This type of brace is helpful, but it is definitely uncomfortable. I wore one for 20 months. We did it when the hip saddle part was leather and the chin pad and back of head part was also leather. My skin eventually sort of melted into the leather. I could not tell where I ended and it began. Do what you can to help the person who wears one to forget that they do. They will appreciate that, I think.

I dont think its that bad i dont have a brace or anything but i think it would get a little time to get use to but is not bad

this soooo dramatic. i have a brace and it is so not that bad. it looks a little weird, sure, but its not bad. way dramatic. ugh.
