My wife copeing with Leukemia
Just to show what a brave strong women she isNot down hearted but positiveAnd hopefully she will get through itAND NOW SHES IN REMISSION YESSSSS COULD I BE ANY HAPPIER
Things have been moveing along very quickly when we got the news she was in remission we were overjoyed but a few weeks down the line the doctors told us that the best way of getting rid of the disease altogether was to have a transplant We were told of all sorts of complications and to be honest it wasnt very nice to listen too
Anyway a while after going on the doner list two doners were found but were only 9/10 matches which isnt perfect but when you only find 2 in the world i guess you have to be grateful
Anyway she had the transplant today with no complications as yet (hopefully not at all)
So im sat hear with everything crossed hopeing things keep on this way
And ill say one thing you never realise how much you love someone untill something like this happens
Steve
PS Since haveing the transplant she has now started getting side effects from the radiopheropy
these include horrendace ammounts of mouth ulcers an all over body rash that itches like chicken pox and when plasters on her dressings are taken off they are pulling her skin up
PPS
The mouth ulcers are now nearly gone and the rash has receded the troubleis now that although things are generally looking better ,with us just waiting for the counts to come up
Diane has for the 1st time in nearly a year has started to become very emotional and cant stop crying 'she says she just wants to come home '
It breaks my heart to see her like this because thereis nothing i can do to help her other than verbally support her
Ive told her its only a matter of weeks before her bloods will be up and she'll get her 1st home visit and see her 10yr old daughter for the 1st time in 6 weeks
This seemed to cheer her up a bit but when you leave the hospital and see her with tears in her eyes .... words cant describe how you feel
I hope that by reading this short story of our lives you get somekind of hope from it and please never give up because its only the strong ones that get through it
Diane just got her 1st home visit on Saturday but is still very weak and its strange because shes gone from being a bubbly vibrant person to a really timid shy person
She is really really pleased to be able to come home tho even when she has to go back at night
If things keep going as they are next week there is a good chance that she may get discharged which will be great
She will still need to go back to the day clinic at least 3 times a week tho just to keep track of things but if she is sleeping at home while its going on i dont think she will mind one bit
Its been nearly a year now since she was diagnosed and we can finally see a light at the end ofthe tunnel
Thx
Steve&DianeFriday the 2nd of March is the day we take a step forward Diane is being discharged (yeah) still needs a lot of care and looking after but so what she'll be home
She can finally relax a bit take her breakfast when she wants it rather than when it comes and have a lie in and enjoy it
Still very weak and has to go back on Monday for tests and the like but what a treat home for a long weekend
Also what a treat for me a warm bed to get into instead of haveing half the bed clock cold with no one to cuddle up too
Just hope the infections stay away and things go from good to even better and wecan finally get our lives back on track
Thx
Steve
PPs Diane had to go back into hospital on the 16th i took her temperature and it was 38.2 phoned the hospital up and they said come straight in
Diane was distraut didnt want to go back in (that room)
But if i didnt ring up and tell them and something was wrong how would i feel if it did
I feel stuck in the middle dont want to hurt Diane but at the same time have to be cruel to be kind
Anyway she rang today to say that they had found the infection and it was in her hickman line which is a big relief because that means that it isnt a transplant problem (phew)
We had a big chat when she went in to try and get her into a positive frame of mind again
I had to be quite strong with her and explain things like what is two days in hospital compaired to the rest of your life
And stop sulking and sit up and do stuff dont sit there in silence thinking about what might happen
Concentrate on now
Anyway it seemed to do the trick and shes been loads better since
And if things go ok and the antibiotics work shell be home Monday
So if we have her in hospital every 4 weeks for a few days then home for a month then so be it
Its the long term that matters and its still early days
I will say that it is very hard work trying to be strong for your wife when you feel so helpless yourself
Thx
Steve

See where she was? A hospital?
Now, clever things these hospitals. They are the result of scientific research in many different area's such as medicine and technology.
These things are researched by man using the scientific method. So, for future refernce can we just leave God out of it and give credit where credit is due? Thanks!
