07/14/07 Progress Report

Progress Report includes discussion with u-tubers, loss of appetite, mom's mini stroke this week, and the chemo drugs I'm using are listed below.Beginning the last week of June and ending the first week of September, I will go through 4 rounds of Chemo. Each round consists of one 5 hour session in the chemo lounge followed by four days of wearing a 24 hour pump with chemo pack. Each round is separated by 2 or 3 weeks of no chemo.
During the 5 hour Monday session, I get 145 mg. Cisplatin and 12.5 mg. of Mannitol (Osmitrol), plus some other meds that help fight side effects. I then plug a 24 hour chemo packet into my port that will feed me 1900 mg. of 5FU each day for 4 days. I go in to refresh my packet each day, and receive some other meds to fight side effect each day for 45 minutes while my packet of chemo is getting ready.

Try to get: 6 teaspoons of seeds or 1/2 teaspoons of powder a day. Use it: Toss a bowl of root veggies, such as sweet potatoes, parsnips, cauliflower, turnips, with olive oil and one teaspoon cumin powder. Bake at 300degrees for 25 minutes or until tender, and add salt, pepper, and chopped cilantro to taste before serving. Recipe ideas from Dana Jacobi, Author of The Essential Best Foods Cookbook (rodale, 2008) Also possative attitude is very important in fighting cance. Best wishes...

One more thing to consider and please pass the word to as amny people as poss.A Spice called CUMIN -prevents cancer. It's not surprise to many spice researchers that cancer rates are lower in India, where cumin is a diet staple. Studies show that the curcumin in this spice inhibits the enzymes that help cancer cells invade healthy tissue and also keeps tumors from developing the new blood vessels that help them grow. Cooking with it next comment....

That's the same inexpensive pill crusher/splitter that my husband uses. Your side effects sound similar, even though Bob's cancer (both times) was colon. So sorry about your mom. More stress you don't need. So so sorry.
