Frank Reynolds WAS the face of ABC News and was really the first established anchor to achieve success at the network. I watched him while I was growing up, and I knew the network would bring him back to the anchor seat when Roone Arledge began World News Tonight. He was right for the broadcast.

I do have that piece of Frank losing his cool in regards to the conflicting reports.. It featured in a lengthy piece put to air on WNT the night he died.. I will locate this and post it ASAP.It is as you and others say compelling viewing and something we may not see today.
I actually remember watching that segment live as it went to air and thought it was good he was showing his emotions.
Much of the coverage went to air LIVE in Australia on Channel 9.
Thanks for mentioning !!

Frank Reynolds was a class act. His news broadcasts were the best. So, he got mad on air once because his producers were feeding him contradictory information. Is that the all-defining moment of his life?
